We are always looking for motivated students and scholars. We design faster and more efficient computer systems through cross-stack co-design, spanning algorithms and data structures, systems and architectures, and hardware and circuits. My publications also give a sense of our work. If this direction excites you, I would love to hear from you. Below you will find how to reach out.

Ph.D. Students Open

I currently have Ph.D. openings. To apply:

  1. Submit an application through the Ph.D. in Intelligent Systems Engineering program and mention my name in your application.
  2. Also email me at yiwzhao [at] iu [dot] edu and mention in the subject line that you are applying for a Ph.D. position, e.g., “Interested in a Ph.D. position in your group”.

Undergraduate, Master's, and Visiting Students Open

I welcome undergraduate, master's, and visiting students who want to get involved in research. Please email me at yiwzhao [at] iu [dot] edu and mention in the subject line which opening you are applying for (undergraduate research, master's research, or visiting student), e.g., “Interested in undergraduate research in your group”.

What to Include in Your Email

  • Your CV (and transcripts, if available).
  • A few sentences on your research interests and which of my works or directions interest you.
  • Relevant experience, such as research projects, systems or hardware projects, or code you have written (links welcome).
  • For visiting students: your intended duration and whether you have funding.

I read all emails and will eventually reply to most of them, but due to the large volume, it may take some time. Emails that clearly indicate their purpose will get a quicker response.
